Whether you are planning a girls night out, bachelor or bachelorette party, or have friends in from out of town, your night will probably center on a great dance club. And if your current flame just loves to dance, you may be looking for several fun spots so you can change it up and keep them interested.
Whether you are looking for lush and upscale with bottles poppin’, totally retro, or the coolest new club in town, we’ve got some great recommendations to keep you moving.
Sax (website): The comparisons to Moulin Rouge are almost irresistible in talking about this gorgeous nightclub. A full dinner menu is followed by live entertainment ranginging from aerialists to burlesque to cabaret. This is followed by dancing (almost) until dawn. The crowd is fashionable and the vibe is definitely different from anything else you’ll find in the area. Celebrating a birthday or other special event? Check out the celebrations packages to create a truly memorable experience for your whole party.
Soundcheck (website): The sound is the star at this DC club featuring sophisticated design elements to mimic the conditions of a recording studio. Maybe that’s why world-class live acts and DJs flock to this venue and find such receptive audiences. EDM, Latin, and hip-hop nights are among the events to experience here. Table Service and private events can also be held here.
Town Danceboutique (website): If you have never experienced the over-the-top entertainment and gigantic dance floor at Town, you’d better act fast–this dance mecca and DC’s largest gay nightclub, will be closing its doors in 2018. That means you don’t have long to experience events like Town & Country, Funkytown retro nights, or Candyland with Kidd Madonny from Miami. The drag shows here are legendary and (limited) reserved seating is available. And when you just can’t dance anymore, relax on the 4000 square foot Patio for a nightcap.
Bossa Bistro + Lounge (website): If you’re looking for an intimate and very romantic spot for dancing, you’ll love Bossa in Adams Morgan. A beautiful tapas menu, live music featuring music from rock to jazz to world music, and multiple levels of cozy nooks and spacious dance floors all conspire to create an enchanting atmosphere. With an art gallery on-site, this venue is truly a feast for all of the senses. Check out their special events for incredible performances and even drop-in dance lessons.
Heist (website): From its lowkey entrance in Dupont, you’ll walk downstairs to find a subterranean glamour spot where the beautifully dressed denizens sip craft cocktails surrounded by art installations that give a wink and a nod to famous thieves and heists. The soundtrack is eclectic with DJs spinning an open format featuring pop, hip hop, and some old-school classics. Tables can be reserved and outside catering can be brought in for special events.
Eighteenth Street Lounge (website): Created by Farid Nouri and based on his house parties, ESL is like having a rich, well-connected DC friend and going to their house for the most fun party ever. Encompassing five distinct spaces–The Main Room, The Gold Room, The Jazz Bar, The Studio Bar, and Deck Bar–and featuring world-class DJs and live performances, this elegant, eclectic, and inviting club will have you coming back to experience all of its spaces and sounds.
Cafe Citron (website): If your nightlife vibe could use more bright and breezy, you’ll love the energy and fun of Citron. With Latin cuisine in the evening and a dance party starting at 10 p.m., you’ll find three levels of music, dancing, and fun featuring a variety of styles from Latin house and pop to reggaeton and salsa. With themed Happy Hours and more, this is a perfect place to stop after work, stay for dinner, then dance the night away.
